That means a welded frame can be faced and bored after welding, a pressed bracket can be tapped, and a batch of turned pins or threaded studs can be made in the same order as the assembly they fit, with one quote, one purchase order and one supplier responsible for the finished part.
Machining in Perth for fabricated, pressed and production parts
Perth has good dedicated machine shops. If you need 5-axis work, micron tolerances or a machined casting, one of them is the right call. Pressform does not do 5-axis machining and does not machine castings.
What Pressform does is machining that belongs with fabrication. Most fabricated and pressed parts need a machined feature somewhere: a faced flange, a bored hub, a tapped boss, a keyway, a reamed hole, a turned pin, a threaded stud. Sending the part to a machine shop after welding adds freight, a second supplier, a second lead time and a second chance for a tolerance to go wrong. Doing it in the same building removes all four.
We also machine components in their own right, including pins, bushes, spacers, shafts, threaded rod and studs, adaptors, valve and pump parts, and the refractory studs, nuts and washers in our own catalogue, on CNC lathes and mills, in one-offs and batches. A welded skid, frame, hub or bracket comes off the welding bay and goes straight to the mill for facing, boring, drilling and tapping, so mounting faces are flat, bores are true and holes are where the drawing says, after the heat of welding has done its distortion, not before. Typical: flange faces, bearing housings, motor mounts, pipe-support saddles, machine bases.

Do you do CNC machining?
Yes. CNC machining centres for milling and CNC bar-feed lathes for turning, alongside manual mills and lathes for one-offs and repairs.
Do you do 5-axis machining or machine castings?
No. Pressform's machining is 3-axis milling, turning, grinding and threading, focused on fabricated, pressed and bar-stock components and tool making. For 5-axis or cast-part machining we would point you to a dedicated machine shop.
What tolerances can you hold?
It depends on the feature and material. Send the drawing with the tolerances that matter and we will confirm in the quote whether they are achievable on our machines.
What is the largest part you can machine?
Bar-feed turning is limited to 72 mm bar. Larger fabricated assemblies are machined on the mill within its table envelope.
Can you machine a part after you've welded it?
Yes. That is the main reason customers use Pressform for machining. Fabricated frames, hubs and brackets are faced, bored, drilled and tapped after welding so the machined features are true on the finished part.
Do you make press tools and jigs?
Yes. Our tool room designs, builds and maintains press tools, dies, welding jigs, drill jigs and fixtures, for Pressform's own production and for customers.
What materials can you machine?
Carbon, high-tensile and quench-and-tempered steels, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass, nickel alloys and titanium.
Do you take one-off jobs and repairs?
Yes. A single replacement pin or a machined repair to a sample is quoted the same way as a batch.
What is the lead time?
It depends on the job and current workload and is confirmed in writing with every quote. As a guide, one-offs and repairs often turn around in 1-2 weeks, and larger or multi-process jobs 3-4 weeks. Tell us your deadline when you send the drawing.
